The Wildcat Way
Show Respect • Make Good Decisions • Solve Problems
Elementary school is the foundation of a child’s learning journey—a time when students develop essential skills that support academic success, positive behavior, and healthy relationships. At Cutler Elementary, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) provides the structure, consistency, and care needed to help every student learn, grow, and feel supported in a safe and positive environment.
Inspired by the strength and resilience of the Wildcat, our PBIS framework reflects not only determination and confidence, but also heart. Cutler students and staff lead with heart each day, demonstrating kindness, compassion, and a shared commitment to student success. PBIS supports the development of foundational skills across academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains, helping students grow into respectful, thoughtful, and capable learners.
Guided by The Wildcat Way—Show Respect, Make Good Decisions, and Solve Problems—students learn that their choices matter and that challenges can be approached with both courage and care. Our PBIS practices are intentionally data-driven and system-focused, allowing us to align supports and services to meet the needs of the whole child while maintaining consistency and fairness. This balance of structure and heart ensures students feel both accountable and supported.
At the elementary level, relationships are central to learning. At Cutler, the strong connections between students and staff create a sense of safety, belonging, and trust. When children know they are cared for, they are more willing to take risks, learn from mistakes, and develop confidence in themselves and others.
Our tiered framework ensures every student receives the right level of support to succeed:
Tier 1 (Universal Supports):
Schoolwide expectations rooted in The Wildcat Way, proactive teaching of behavior, positive classroom environments, and recognition of respectful choices, thoughtful decision-making, and problem-solving for all students.Tier 2 (Targeted Supports):
Small group supports focused on social-emotional learning, behavior skill development, mentoring, and check-in/check-out systems for students needing additional guidance.Tier 3 (Intensive Supports):
Individualized interventions, wraparound services, and close collaboration with families and specialists to support students with the highest needs.
